Comments : In 1998, Donna and I brought home a wonderful yellow Labrador retriever puppy - Parka. Unfortunately, Parka suffered from genetic joint ailments and by the time she was 2 years old, she had all four legs (knees and elbows) surgically repaired. Following the surgery (done at a veterinary surgical hospital in Sun Valley, Idaho), the doctors at Sumner Veterinary Hospital became Parka's primary care givers.
They guided Parka through 8 years of active outdoor living. In those years, Parka struggled with bouts of arthritis and mild injury, but she had solid, professional medical care and she stayed active. So much so that she hiked more than 8,000 miles of wilderness trails with us, covering some of the most beautiful and rugged terrain in Washington and Oregon. Indeed, Parka inspired a best selling national series of dog-hiking guidebooks, and helped me research the inaugural book, "Best Hikes with Dogs: Western Washington."
None of that would have been possible without the services provided by the Summer Veterinary Hospital staff in general, and specifically the incredible care provided by Dr. Cara Borre.
Dr. Borre provided wonderful care for Parka throughout the years. When arthritis eventually took firm hold of Parka's limbs, Dr. Borre literally gave us the last year with our friend by holding Parkaââ¬â¢s crippling pain at bay for as long as possible. For that, we are forever in her debt.
Today, Dr. Borre and the Sumner Vet staff provide care for our new friend, Sophie. Like Parka before her, Sophie is thriving under the professional care of Sumner Veterinary Hospital.
